- ClassAGeekExplorerMy former Sierra truck got 20 mpg normally and 12 mpg when pulling a 3000 lbs TT or a 6000 lbs TT. It appeared to me that wind resistance was the largest factor affecting mileage - at least on relatively flat terrain.
The idea that gassers are getting heavier is certainly true. We routinely meet people with older 26000 lbs CVWR MHs that weigh 15000 lbs fully loaded and have 11000 lbs towing capacity. Our MH has the same 26000 lbs CVWR but is 22000 lbs fully loaded with only 4000 lbs towing capacity. - SRTExplorerOver the past 13 years 6-8mpg. Winds, hills, etc. do affect the gas mileage.

Sounds about right to me :E - jerseyjimExplorerFunny post, and the truth! My V-10, a 2001 version, just got back from an 8 day trip, filled up on the road going, then filled up again on the return trip at the same station, at the same pump.
My 20,500 pound frame pulling a 4,000 pound Ranger, the numbers said 7.45 mpg.
About right. - workhardplayha1ExplorerDepends on who you are-

12 if you are selling it - Monaco_MontclaiExplorerWe have a v10, coach weights, 14,600, not towing, 12.6, --towing--10. Only 16 on the clock so far.the motor ain't even broke in yet. Happy-camping

See that the newer V10s don't don't do any better than my old HR with a Dodge 440 did. The big issue with it was not enough gears and the brakes in the mountains. Lost the brakes once. This is why I am considering a diesel Pusher.
But you not figuring in the weight of the new motorhomes, most here that get 7 mpg are around 20,000lbs plus toad..
That's what I'm thinking
On my 3rd rv over 20 years, all Ford gassers
My mpg has stayed about the same but my weight has doubled
Yep same reason why many trucks get about the same mileage as ones over 20 years ago, they are bigger and heavier. - roam1Explorer
