I looked at a 2000 Newmar Dutch Star yesterday that was absolutely clean as a whistle, it was owned since new by a seniors couple which I'm not all that far from, anyway they started the diesel generator and I was surprised how loud it was (deal breaker),just terrible. I asked if it was a Onan, they said Kubota, is that so and are they that loud or do they have adjustable rockers? BTW it was a 38' single slide, 2 year old tires and 55k miles for 48K dollars and clean inside and out. They even waxed the tail light lenses

I have a friend that once owned a Newmar. I think it was a Kountry Star. His generator was so loud that he hated to use it. It was not an Onan. May have been a Generac.

Kubota makes the diesel that powers the On an. :)

How long did you let it run. After about 10 minutes they quiet down somewhat.

Ours is a Onan 7.5 powered by a Kubota 3 cylinder. It can hardly be heard, I'd be checking the muffler on the beast.

I wont listen to that at all. I'm in no hurry to by a different coach at all. There's many out there and I'm just getting started at really looking, I'm liking a 02 Mountain Aire 4064 dual slide with 35,000 miles, just haven't been able to get there yet. It is Newmar for me, I like them alot and their cabinets/woodworking is nice, even the door skins were real wood veneer.

this man said water cooled and I think he new everything about the coach, but who knows

Some Powertec generators were somewhat noisy. Ous is not. Has kobta diesel water cooled engine.

If that genset noise is all keeping you from the deal, 2000 Dutch Star for 48K, let some others know where that coach is located, because a little noise from a generator is not a problem for many folks using an RV, specially those that attend race events.
