No dash heat from 07 Damon Daybreak

Does anyone out there know where the thermostat (engine location) may be located for an 07 Damon Daybreak (V-10 Ford F-53 chassis)? I am getting no heat when warmed up and blasting. Antifreeze flush and fill completed. Thanks.
  • Thanks for all of the great advice and input!
The engine gauges all seem to be in good operating order and show proper temperature after running for some period of time.
I will check on your other advices and repost if necessary.
    Thanks again.

Or someone installed a shut off and bypass so there’s no circulation through the heater core in the summer.

IS the engine running at the proper temp per the dash gauge? If so it's not the T_Stat.. More likely the flow control valve in the heater line.

Follow the heater hose and look for ye old valve.. May be vacuum or cable operated.. Since I don't do fords (But do do generic) I'm not sure.

Of course that assumes it's flow control

Optional is Air Gates.. LIkewise, a stuck air gate will freeze you.
  • Enjoyingthejourney,

As someone else asked, did you get heat BEFORE you did the flush?

If not, I can tell you that a lot of units in that era had cut-off valves which allowed some hot coolant to leak through the heater core even when off. The problem with this is that during the summer months, the A/C would not be cold...cool at best due to the hot coolant in the heater.

How long have you had this motorhome? If since new, then the following probably doesn't apply. But if you just picked it up this past year, then perhaps the following might apply.

To solve the issue, many of us (me included) installed a manual value inline with the other heater valve to completely stop the flow during the summer months. Works GREAT...during the summer. That first trip in the Fall when you need heat, you have to remember to turn the valve back on. LOL

Good Luck and welcome to the Forums,

  • 1. Look at the Dash Temp gauge. If it shows middle or above, your tstat is working
    2. The Dash Heater/AC system is aftermarket. The Motorhome maker installs the hoses and the Temp cut off valve for the Heater core. The Heater Core/Evaporator is also aftermarket. You need to post the Brand name of the aftermarket system to get more help. The name will usually be on the case of the heater Core visible from the outside engine access door. There are Vacuum systems and electric controlled systems. That is why the Brand is critical. Doug

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The thermostat is located there.

better read and do what I suggest first then worry about stat
If it(stat) was shut motor would boil over if it was open motor would run cooler than normal both ways should still produce some heater heat unless its like 20 below zero

did u have heat before the flush and fill? if so maybe u have a air lock or its not filled correctly
is the in heater hose hot? what about the out one? thermostats rarely fail
