I'm new to RV'ing and I guess I should have done more research before I bought my Class A last week. Got a 2006 Four Winds Hurricane 31D. Only 10K miles on it, very clean, etc. I wasn't aware that Class A's should have leveling systems. Apparently mine does not have one. How bad is this? Will it affect the performance/life span of my coach? Should I have a leveling system installed? If so, what kind?

You will want to level the rig for comfort and to extend the life of your LP Refrigerator.Leveling blocks under the tires are more user intensive, but will serve the purpose.There is a level app for smartphones that you might find useful.

We bought a 2006 Hurricane 30Q a few years ago and had a leveling system installed when we purchased it used. Works great. I believe the cost was around $5,000 installed. I saw you're in FL; the Quadra Mfg folks are somewhere near Lakeland. Their website is www.thebigfootleveler.com. Check them out for sure.

I'd invest in having levelers installed. I've owned units without and it is a real pain. The older I get the less inclined I am to haul out leveling boards and place them under the wheels and remove them when leaving.

Leveling systems are NOT required. But, they make life easier if you have one. IF you have a slide out, you will want a leveling system installed. Motorhomes will lean to the extended slide out side without a leveling system. Most Class A's with slide outs built in the last 10 years have leveling systems. The only reason a Class A would not have one is, it does not have a slide out or the OEM was trying to save money and build a unit with a lower price point to compete with other OEM's. DougPS, this is one item that will add to your re-sell value down the road.
