Norcold 1200 LRIM

I have a Norcold 1200 LRIM mfg 7/2005 installed in my 2006 Moho! We have had various issues over the past few years and have overall satisfaction for unit. However, looking for feedback to current issues we are having.
Recently our unit stopped working on AC power. I didn't think much about this and switched to LP. All was fine until about a week ago LP stopped and no refrigeration. Notice strange smell like wire burning. I removed the vent access panel on exterior, pulled cover on power supply and the power supply board had caught on fire at the 5 amp fuse connection? Power board replaced, heat elements both check out okay, however the high temp switch (which was the recall years past and replaced) when plugged back into AC still has red light lite and will not allow me to reset with magnet. There is no signs of any burnt wiring anywhere. Not getting any power to inside operating panel.
Any feedback is appreciated before I waive the white flag is appreciated!

That puppy would be out the door quicker than you can say Not-So-Cold. When there is any sign of maybe a coach fire it would be out, I like to sleep at night. Mine was working but had a hard time cooling in warm weather, so I made the switch to a RR frig. One of the best moves we have made!

In all my years RV'ing I have come to this conclusion as well. While I love the idea of boondocking, anything that would cause a fire would be out. Not worth the risk. 2 of my coaches have residential fridges. Our TT still has a working dometic. Once it goes or threatens I'm putting a residential in that.

As stated above I am replacing my refrigerator with a Kenmore Model 51819 side by side!!
This unit fits the width of my cabinet. Remove drawer base below and able to add upper cabinet storage above!!
    Will post results!
Thanks again for all your feedback!!

Residential refrigerator was the best upgrade we ever did. you'll be glad you decided not to fool with the Norcold.

  • Thank you all for your feedback! It is going to be pulled out and a residential put back in its place as soon as I can get it all coordinated!
Be well and safe travels to all!

  • To reset with a Magnet, make sure the POWER wire on the recall box is disconnected. For Safety, you really need the refer checked professionally for a Leaker on the cooling unit. The recall box affects BOTH LP and 120 operation. Doug

What revision is the recall box? IF E a strong magnet should reset it. If you cannot figure out how to bypass the blue wire from the recall box to get power to the board, you probably should not. If you do bypass you need to keep a close eye out for overheating as there is a slight chance it actually did it's job.
  • Bypass the recall switch.....it was installed by removing the 12 volt power lead from your refer.....I believe it's brown. Pull the lead, it will be obvious since it's wired with the refer and now runs to the recall switch, trace the lead from the recall switch back to the refer, remove and plug in OEM power lead. If the refer works and it looks like no issues, you probably need a new recall switch. Good luck getting a second one from Norcold!
