number of class A motorhomes in use in the USA

I am trying to prepare a report on the number of motorhomes in use in the USA today. I need to know how many class A, class B and Class C motorhomes are believed to be in use in the USA. Is there any organization that would have this information available. FMCA says they do not know. FVIA has not returned any of my emails. Please let me know if you have this information or know where it can be obtained. Thanks....John
  • I'm curious how this waste disposal device can avoid running afoul of the EPA. It claims to break wastes into small particles that dissolve in water, but most "stuff" doesn't dissolve no matter how small you make the particles. All you're really doing is sending heated crud out the exhaust pipe. I would think EPA would want to have a say regarding that.

Anyway, it only works when the engine is running and is at operating temperature. Boondockers would have to run their engines quite a while to make use of it.

I would imagine any manufacturer or Good Sam would be able to closely identify the approximate number of RV's on the road since those metrics are valuable for marketing and sales. You'd have to reach someone up the ladder for that kind of data. Marcus perhaps can chime in. In the "for what it's worth" category, I wouldn't think you'd need to concentrate your target market on just A B and C motorhomes. TT's could be a market too. If I understand the product correctly, a generator will suffice to run the device.

When I put my profile together, I had never been a forum user and was concerned about information. I am 70, live in St. Augustine, FL, been a FMCA member since 1985, owned 5 motorhomes, 3 class A and 2 class B's, traveled the USA as a fulltimer for 2 years, have a beautiful wife of 36 yrs and 2 cats that own us and keep us on our toes.

Thanks for your response. It sounds like you definitely know the needs of the RV industry having owned so many motor homes. I read the information on your site and found it interesting. Do you have this system in your current motor home and if so for how long? If your system is proven you may want to get a sales spot at a large National RV rally to get the public to see it in action.

  • Cool thanks for the reply. There are lots and lots of rv's out there. It would be a big seller if the price is right and you come up with an easy way to retrofit into existing machines. Service will also be a problem all rv'ers will be worried about.

But is has potential for those who boondock. Less so for those who stay more to one place. Price will be a big factor.

You know I find it interesting that you didn't say WHY you want the information. Could you please enlighten us why someone would want a report on this?

Mike you ask a good question. That is an interesting request for information for one to ask by somebody who provides no information about themselves in their profile. He does not even say where he lives.
  • Sorry, you ask an important question. The reason I am asking for the number of Class A, B, and C's is: We are trying to bring to the RV market place a new product call THE ZLD. It is a black and gray waste elimination system that can virtually eliminate the need to stay in a campground or park that has waste disposal facilities.

This product can be viewed at www.thezld.com or www.namonnassef.com. As it has been a struggle to get the manufacturers involved, we have decided to bring it directly to the RV users attention. The aftermarket becomes the arena we want to go to.

The ZLD was chosen as one of the top 10 best inventions for 2011 by Popular Science and has been featured in numerous boating and RV websites. It is a struggle to get any product of this potential into the hands of the users but we are determined to let the RV customer know as soon as we can get backing, we will be offering this to them.

Hope this clears up why the information is needed.
  • I think MikeRP is asking a valid question..........Inquiring minds want to know...So, Just John.... what's up???
