Options for new flooring

Hi there everyone,

DW wants to get rid of the carpet in our rig and replace it with something else. Our rig has one main slide in the living room portion of our 2003 Allegro bus. Has anyone done any Pergo style flooring? How about carpet squares?

Any, and all suggestions about what you've done to give your flooring a new look would be greatly appreciated! Happy camping!

  • General consensus seems to go with the flooring strips that are similar to the laminate you were mentioning, but hey are vinyl, so not effected by the stuff that always gets brought into an RV when out camping. Easy to clean, and water proof. I believe it's called "Allure" at Home Depot, and runs about $2/sqft. in a variety of wood-tones.
Carpet tiles would probably work nice, but again, they get dirty pretty quickly.

The slide may pose a bit of a problem, but if you search, you can probably find others who have already done it, and I'm sure would be happy to help you.
  • We replaced our carpeting with Armstrong sheet vinyl acouple of years ago. We don't full time, but we do snowbird for 4 months. It has held up very well. We just let it float, no glue. And we added quarter round to keep it from coming up at the edges.
We could not find a way to redo the slides, so we left the carpet on it, and put a throw rug on top. That has worked out well. We also did not redo the front driver & passenger seat area.
We were able to do the work ourselves. We did get estimates, but they were way too pricy for us.
We still use runners, but only because the dogs need them to jump up on the sofa, and down from the bed.
    Good luck to you.
