Can powered awnings be sloped to allow rain water to run off?

We have a similar model that can be sloped at either end. It also has a shock on the rear arm that will dump if the awning starts to fill with water. The only caveat to sloping it at one end is that the manufacturer says it needs to be level when rolling it up. If it isn't level the fabric will roll over one end and get damaged.
