Just wondering what the "Remote" (Trailer or towed) is using as a power source,, Seems that unless you have a battery charge lead that could lead to loss of brakes on a cross country trip.

That said, Tekonsha Engineering makes fine products.
interesting when I googled it I found two different listings
One in Bingham Farms MI (Detroit suburb) said something about the company being registered in 1959, the other, In Tekonsha, MI said founded in the 1960's. I grew up in Tekonsha, MI, in the 1960's and would have liked to date the founder's daughter but alas, did not work out (Sweet girl, bit of a plain Jane but nice in other ways) Shold have tried harder I guess. but what can i say, Shy teen and all that.

That is not how it works. It plugs into the 7 pin of the tow vehicle and the trailers 7 pin plugs into the controller. It uses the battery of the tow vehicle not the trailer.

I have one that I used with my 30 foot travel trailer. It worked great. I have a motorhome now and don't need it. IF you want to buy mine send me a PM. I'll sell it at a significant discount.

  • I use it with my 40ft motorhome and 24ft car trailer. The loaded trailer weighs 7200lb and the control works perfect. I went with the wireless controller because 1. I couldn't find the prewired harness in the motorhome cockpit and 2. I can use the controller with any of my vehicles or future vehicles/motorhomes.

  • Yes and I really liked it a lot. Easy to install and setup. Used on my wife's BMW X5 for hauling our 24" TT last year. BMW and some other makes don't have a electrical connector for the braking system that is why I installed one easier and cheaper than modifying the truck and risk the warranty of the truck.
