Progressive insurance charges a cancellation fee

I called to cancel ins. on my class C. I wasn't even in the middle of a contract year, but rather about to re-up for next year, and since the rv will be sitting idle for a long time on some long term repairs I made the choice to cancel. These ding dongs charge a $30 cancellation fee, never heard of that with any co. I have ever had insurance with. I won't be going back to them and don't recommend them to anyone anymore. There are too many other players in the insurance game to have to put up with that. JMO

  • Last time I switched insurance I selected new company paid for new insurance and just my other insurance lapse. Got lots of trash from them but never a charge. I did have one of those cell phone internets years ago. Never paid bill and the hit my card and claimed they had that right. I called credit card company aledged fraud. It was backed out with no problem. Guess I don't get these problems.
  • Please let us know which insurance company you decide to go with that have lower rates and no fees than Progressive. I have Hartford and rates have steadily increased over the years so am looking as well.
  • Most do now days. Based on a major claim we had with Progressive I wouldn't have anyone else. They settled claim quickly and to my satisfaction.
  • Seasonal type vehicles are subject to this. My Insurance carrier, that I've had for 32 years won't reinstate my Harley at all if I don't maintain constant coverage. I can't ride it 6 months of the year here. Also,if a vehicle is financed & your still making payments, the finance company won't allow it.
  • Cancellation fees are pretty common place today on everything, for virtually every type of contract. $30 is cheap!
