- jimbo4UTExplorerThis being my second rv purchase I am in no hurry. Summer is almost over and if i wait and get 5 grand off why not do that? I am looking at a dealer in Maryland that has 23 of the model i want coming in, let me say that again 23 and its a higher end model of Class C. Having talked to an rv salesperson a few years back they told me if you are serious and can wait till November or December you will get thousands more off. (now being a salesman - dont trust any of them). i ask here. Maybe in the past what is left on the lot mgirardo but this year is different. They are 2 months behind in making rv's and I bet you many dealers are hoping to start cancelling orders in a few weeks because they don't want them on their lots from Oct to April of next year. I could be totally wrong but SO FAR everything i see on the internet tells me my instincts are correct. Manufacturers lost 2 months of sales and that is a ton of money. One thing about the internet and I have already started is playing one dealer against another. If they know you are will to travel anywhere to get the best deal they know they have a serious buyer and will usually match any other dealers offer. Honestly if i got 35% off MSRP i would still fill like i left money on the table and some of the model i want are almost there now. anyway thanks to everyone for their thoughts and ideas.
Ferndaleflyer they dont have the model I want but I check everyday. Maryland is 53 miles away and so is Richmond and so far Maryland has what i want. - jimbo4UTExplorerYippee just played Maryland against dealer in another state and now my 139,000 MSRP is down to 81.500 if I buy this Friday LOL :) They are the ones with all the extra models of what i want. Come November it's 75,000 and only 100 mile trip. Now were talking. The model i want is the Premier Model of this manufacturer with all the bells and whistles and now we are down to a realist price.
Now to convince the wife to NOT want to run up to Maryland and get it :) - klutchdustExplorer II

I have been told to wait till Nov/Dec to purchase an rv as that is when i can expect to get the best price. Is that (in Fact) true?
thanks in advance,

I have heard that the end of the month is a good time. I have found that IF you know what what the vehicle is selling for at other dealerships you can come in as an informed buyer. If you go in and just throw numbers around they know it and you will not have Any idea what is fair. Shop around, compare pricing, avoid warranties like they have covid on them. As far as what time of year, that's anyone's guess. Life as we knew it is gone for now.
Right now I am downsizing, selling my C for a toy hauler for different reasons. The toy haulers I am interested in sell within a few days. My C is starting to get some hits . 7 Cambrias online and 4 sold last week, hopefully mine is next. - Desert_CaptainExplorer III

I agree... If you do your homework as detailed above find a large dealer that has exactly what you want {the internet is your friend}. Walk into the dealer when they open on the last day of the month and hard ball them for their best offer {for this to work you need to be in position to make the deal happen that day with cash and/or very good credit}.
When they won't go any lower point out to the sale manager, not the salesman, that they have in all probability made their "nut" for the month and any unit sold by the close of business will generate cash straight back from their corporate office. They will in all probability move heaven and earth to get you closed by the end of the day and the price will get better, often significantly better.
I have employed this technique three times, when we bought our lightly used Nexus Class C from La Mesa RV, my 2017 Indian Springfield from Ride Now Chandler and last summer when I bought our new Honda Ridgeline from Auto Nation. All three were very large successful dealers and all three sales managers when I challenged them to tell me I am wrong and that it does not work that way laughed and said no Mr. Ford you are not wrong... lets make the deal.
Another ploy if you are willing and able to pay cash {and have very good credit - think FICO score of 750 - 800+} after you have your best price offer to let them finance the deal as they get cash back from corporate on every loan that gets written. All three times I went this route and saved a bunch on top of everything else we had negotiated. I paid all three off early, in 6 years instead of 15 on the coach, in one year instead of 3 on the Indian and the next day instead of 3 years on the Honda.
Good luck and good hunting!
:C - ron_dittmerExplorer III think the sweet spot for a best deal is the last day the RV dealer is open in October. But don't go there that day to figure out what you want. Do that weeks prior. You want to walk in that last day knowing what you want and what you will pay for it.
Say " I want this one for this much. If you agree to my price, I will buy it right this minute. If not, thanks for your time." If they say no, then get up and start walking. Don't play their game. Make them play your game. - jimbo4UTExplorerCredit is not a problem for us. I'm retired but wife works making 160,000 as COO of a non-profit and she has a 820 credit score. She actually wants to buy it for herself :) Love my wife LOL great thinker :) MY credit score is excellent also.
- ferndaleflyerExplorer IIII saw a 10 year old C for sale here for $58,000----are they serious?
- jimbo4UTExplorerI know its crazy, just checked a Leprechaun (by Coachman) has been on the lot close to me for 3 months. So much for a buying frenzy. Actually the dealership is poorly run so i can see why it isn't making them any money.

Why not. Depending on the vehicle, why not. I have a 10 YO for sale with 10K in upgrades like hydraulics ,suspension etc. If you look up the vehicle you just mentioned in the RV NADA guide you may be surprised.
Some units are POS, not taken care of, loose and broken etc. My unit is very well taken care of, inside like a few years old, excellent maintenance by me, a truck mechanic. Someone will get a very well maintained piece that will give them years of service at a fraction of the new price. The Ford Chassis is rugged, the V-10 phenomenal. The house, depending on who made it, can be easily maintained. So what if the fridge goes out or the air or the heater, they are replaceable at a reasonable cost. Find a Mobile RV mechanic and become friends.
fun costs money. - B_O__PlentyExplorer IIThey sell RVs, cars whatever everyday. You buy once every year or five years. There is no way you can beat them at their game. The best you can do is to stack the odds in your favor. The salesperson doesn't just have to sell you, they have to sell the sales manager also if they want to get a commission. Best day to buy is the last day of the month for sure. They have quotas and bonuses at stake. That last little skinny deal they make this month might just put them over the top for a fat bonus check.
