I'd add some device that kills the pump if the temp gets too high in the compartment.

Pushing air in would be better than pulling air out. That way your fan would not run in hot air.

I'd worry about the needle and seat in the carb being overpowered by the pump causing a rich mixture or worse a carb overflow while running. That generator would have been gravity feed from the factory. Your fuel pump pressure needs to be next to nothing.

More vent are not always better. It's all about air flow.

PS: I blocked two more members due to their reply's to you on this thread. I think that makes an even ten.

It's definitely louder than the Onan, especially inside. I'm sure it would not be real popular in a nice quiet campground.

Is it a factory installed Onan, well no. May it break, My onan did so I suppose this can too. My total cost of the project is right at 525.00 so I can replace it 10 times before I come to the cost of an onan. Is it loud, Yes but not Harley loud.

This is a 1999 MH that is being used by 4 guys on the road 3-4 days a week. Mostly on shore power. But if needed we now have a emergency backup. It is not used hours at a time more like minutes going down the road to power the microwave. So with all that being said I will put together a video and show you what I did. Is it Certified Safe by UL or whatever, No but neither is life. Thanks all. If you want specific information or whatever let me know.

You know, a lot of people seem to get keyboard mussels on their replies.
Replacing an Onan generator is quite expensive, and it seems you may have hit on a way to minimize that expense. If the u-tube video is of your install, it is fairly quite. I would be interested in knowing more about it. I know that there a number of older MHs that the generator has really died and there is no replacement available. A safe, quite, inexpensive alternative would be of interest to many. If you leave, you leave, don't let others chase you off. If you are with a Band, you should be use to hecklers.

Personally, I have a lot of respect for what you're doing, trying to find a way to make it work, without having to spend several thousand on a new Onan. I personally have never had any trouble out of my Onan and am totally happy with it, after 6 years and several hundred hours of rock solid, reliable use. But, I still think its cool that you are finding a way to make it work without having to spend big $$ on a new Onan. Please keep us posted on this project, even if you have to start a new thread to do it. :)

Please, don't let a couple of stubborn, set-in-their-way people drive you away from this forum. As with any public forum, you have to learn to ignore, weed out some posts, and enjoy the forum for the other good, helpful you get from open minded people that truly want to help, and learn.

Any time I post a topic of ANY nature on here, I fully expect to get several that will find some way to belittle what I'm asking or talking about, insult, etc. I just (try to) ignore those posts and do not respond to them. Nah, don't let all this run you off. I'm anxious to see the project progress. It would help everyone if we had more people trying to have an "Onan Option". Keep trying and if nothing else, at least message me and show me what you've done and how's it is coming along. good luck with it all.

Look all. Just because the guy doesn't want to take our advice doesn't warrant this kind of snark. I disagree with him but still wish him well with his mods and hope they work. I wouldn't do them but I'm quite sure he is an adult and those free to do whatever he feels like doing. He asked for advice, we gave it. He chose not to take it. His choice.
