Replacement Rear View Mirrors

Hopefully you will not have to buy new mirrors. As stated, they are expensive. I had to buy one - had an argument with the side of the garage. These folks were a little cheaper and much easier to talk to than Velvac itself.

Had the same problem as conceptumator. Here is our fix.

I seriously doubt the wobble you mention is the mirrors, so before you pay the outrageous amount that everyone wants for new mirrors, check something out. I had the same problem on our old RV, a 2006 Hurricane. Turned out it wasn't the mirrors at all. When they installed them at the factory, they apparently didn't think the mounting screws were anything that water could seep in around so they didn't put any sort of sealer on the threads. As a result, the wood blocking inside the coach wall, where the mirrors are mounted, had rotted out. I tried several methods of repairing it externally (drilling out and filling the existing holes with epoxy, installing steel inserts, etc.) and they all seemed to last about one trip. The solution from Thor was the same that one of my mechanic buddies had made - drill through the entire wall, put a longer bolt with a spacer on it and a steel backer plate on the inside of the coach to keep the wall from crushing when the bolts were tightened. As the inside location would be hidden under the dash, this was entirely doable, but I traded it in before I got around to doing that.

Thank you for that. I was able to find the allen screw to tighten the mirror. It was a 3/8 for the next person looking for information on tightening it.

there is NO access to tighten this up
i have never seen one come loose

Fleetwood plus Ford f53 of this vintage probably equals Velvac power mirrors. There is a large Allen wrench bolt that is accessible on the inside of the up turn of the elbow. This will tighten the top assembly. When I found mine, I had to use a hand held mirror to see it well enough to know what wrench to use.

Call Fleetwood, they will give you the manufacturer, part number etc.

Late 90's mirrors were often mounted using adhesives which will fail with time, hence the wobbling.

Eventually they just let go. Replacements are usually "snap-in"

I have replaced both of my convex lense mirrors and Fleetwood was most helpful!

You did not really explain what you mean by wobbling... do you mean the cases are wobbling behind the mirrors, or the whole mirror assembly is wobbling?
