RV Leveling

We are newbies and have just purchased a 2006 Coach House Platinum 261XL-SD that will be delivered to us in 2 weeks. In this weeks RV tip about leveling rigs it said, "parking on a significantly side-sloped or front-rear slope can be dangerous or can cause problems. Our driveway is side-sloped 9 inches in 14 feet of width. Will this be a problem? How tall are hydraulic leveling jacks? What is considered a significant slope? Any additional hints when leveling a dualy RV? Thank you

  • Hi and just a note, Per forum rules your not allowed to post the same thing in multiple threads.
    Good luck.
  • You won't have any leveling jacks on your rv. You'll have to level it by driving up on blocks of wood or other similar devices to raise the low end of your rv.

If my math is correct, you're parking on a 6% grade - that's pretty steep. There's no place else to park it? Can you level your driveway any more?
  • If your new rig does not have leveling gauges (the ones with the bubble), buy two. They are cheap and generally mount with simple peel and stick tape. You want one reading fore and aft and one across the back (side to side). Always try to be with in one or 2 degrees of level both ways and you should have no problem operating your refrigeration. As soon as I pull/back into a site the first thing I do is check the bubbles and use the appropriate number of lego blocks to achieve the desired effect. :C
  • That should be no problem. Just set the parking brake and put a wheel chock under one or two tires.
The problem is you want the rig to be fairly level when operating
the frig. I have some drive up lego type blocks for leveling the
RV. They are very nice, but there may not be enough in the kit to
level it out on that much slope,

Enjoy the rig, it sounds nice! Brian
