Satellite for Motor Home

The domes will not give you different channels on 2 receivers with dish network, and will not give any HD with direct ever.

We have a dome which works good if no tree's, but only 1 receiver, share one channel with 2 TV's.

Our external 3 lnb antenna works good and would run 2 recievers if we had them.

Winegaurd has a roofmount 3 lnb automatic open dish, around $1300. It's on my wish list, and will give all channels, multiple TV's, even runs the dish hopper. But you can't use it while moving, the wind would rip it right off the roof!

Had a Kingdome with Direct TV and had never had a problem with viewing different channels on each of the two TVs. And that was every where we went.

Traveler with directv. Am also changing from multiswitch to Single wire for grater flexibility. Love it.

We recently got the Winegard MP1 portable and bought a tripod with it. It has two ports for two receivers. We went with Direct TV and since we were new customers they gave us the receivers for free. The dish has only one LMB so we don't have HD. But it is easy to set up and use. We use the antennae for local channels and network programs. We are very satisfied with the dish. At only $189 at Camping World the dish was a great deal for us.

That's true for DirecTV but not for Dish Network.
Domes all have limitations. For DirecTV that means you can't receive HD programming but you can use multiple receivers and watch any SD channel. For Dish, you can receive HD but only one receiver/tuner will be able to watch anything on any channel. The second receiver/tuner becomes a slave and can only view channels on the one satellite that was selected by receiver #1.

Wth the 722k receiver you CANNOT use most of the automatic dish's recommended above. Even those with "dual" capabilities actually toggle between satellites and cannot receive or see both at the same time. Having said that your options are the manual tripod based, or the $1400 and above automatic dish's that are available. I speak from experience having purchased and returned the Anser, Tailgater, all of the $700 and less portable devices.

Wait a minute.. you guys have me confused. Are you telling me that with my Winegard Trav'ler, I cannot put both of my DISH 722's in my mh and have them operate independently?

I only have one satellite antenna (DISH 1000) on my home and we not only have two 722's but also a 211 single receiver that all operate independently of each other. With the Trav'ler (also a DISH 1000), what would be the difference????

We have had a roof mounted, Winegard carryout and a large tripod mounted dish. The Winegard and the large dish work fine but never get a roof mounted dish unless you are only going to stay in private parks and not state or federal parks. Problem is we got about 50% usage out of the roof mounted due to trees etc. There are sites where we had to go out 100 ft to get a clear shot of the sky.

Because the Trav'ler has to move between sats so if you want to watch one sat on this receiver and another sat on second receiver won't work. Also problems if you want to record shows on 2 sats.
Dish uses 3 sats for it's channels so you see the problem.
