I have the ScanGauge and use it to continuously monitor my charging voltage, my air/fuel ratio, my coolant temperature, and my transmission fluid temperature. My dash already has a digital readout of my oil pressure.
I figure that by monitoring these things on a continuous basis, I can tell if anything is going wrong with my charging, cooling or fuel system. The gauge is mounted high on my dash and is easy to monitor as I drive down the road.
It also has the advantage of immediately storing a fault code if something fails and it allows me to reset the codes if I need to.
X2 I monitor Oil pressure, water temp, trans temp, current MPG. SG will monitor 16 parameters. Thanks.
Jack H - John___AngelaExplorerI have the scangaugeII in our little C. Works well. Allows me to see engine and trans temp while driving. I just ordered a scangaugeD for the pusher. I need to check and clear a code. Hoping it will give me an idea whats causing it to pop up.

If you have a smart phone all you need is a $20 app and a WiFi or Bluetooth OBDII dongle (wireless connector) $20. I have one with my Iphone and my new tablet. it gives way more info than the Scan Gauge. I really like how it works. for $40 it works great!
I am using an APP called Dash Command, you can get it from the Apple App store or Googe play app store. there are other versions such as Torque app. these are the only 2 good apps. there are others, but they are not as good.
Have you used a scan gauge? Thanks.
Jack H - gclossExplorerI also have the Edge Insight and would not tow without one. I have it setup to simultaneously display 10 PIDs as well as pitch and roll.

And if you don't have a smart phone, you can get one at Wallyworld for $30 (straight talk phone) and get the elm dongle and Torque app and be up and running for less than $50. Yoiu don't need service, just take the phone to where there is WiFi and set it up. - brireneExplorerI wouldn't be without my Edge Insight, which is similar. Best way to know what's going on under the hood, and hopefully head off any problems.
