I have a scan gauge, but if I were to repeat, I would investigate the various apps for smartphones.
Do any of those apps allow you to be connected full time and monitor several parameters without any input from you? Just asking for my own education what you have to do with a phone app. Do you have to hold the phone and type in what you want while you are driving or is all of this done automatically and continuously?
Yes you can set each screen up with up to six gauges of anything you want, but on a smart phone it is small to read with 6 gauges. I set mine up with 2 gauges per page so I can scroll through to see what I want. You can have any gauge you want. It's all up to what your particular need is.
For those who think the cell phone is too small, the app will run on a tablet just fine. I see 7" tablets for $59 all the time. For myself the phone is large enough. - dodge_guyExplorer II

If you have a smart phone all you need is a $20 app and a WiFi or Bluetooth OBDII dongle (wireless connector) $20. I have one with my Iphone and my new tablet. it gives way more info than the Scan Gauge. I really like how it works. for $40 it works great!
I am using an APP called Dash Command, you can get it from the Apple App store or Googe play app store. there are other versions such as Torque app. these are the only 2 good apps. there are others, but they are not as good.
Have you used a scan gauge? Thanks.

I haven't personally used one, but I have seen them I in use and have been in vehicles with them. The app version with a smart phone or tablet/IPad is much better! - rgatijnet1Explorer III

- Vet_ManExplorerI have a Scan gauge in my chevy because of a partial gauge cluster failure. I like it, and was much cheaper then replacing the gauge cluster. Will remove when I sell the truck.
- alkillionExplorerI had 2 ScanGuages hooked in series to monitor 8 functions at once(actually had 3 hooked together once and worked great).
I tried Torque with a OBD dongle but didnt like setting up and using the cell or tablet when ever I went somewhere. ScanGuage is much more convenient. - brireneExplorerDuplicate post.

looked at the edge Insight and it says it is 4.3 inches across, can anyone tell me is that 4.3 inches lengthwise across the screen and what is the height of the screen, one more thing what is the outside measurements thanks
The screen itself is about 3 3/4"x2". Overall is about 4 7/8 wide by just under 2 3/4" high and just under 1" deep. 4.3 appears to be diagonal. This is for the cts model, not the cs, which has a smaller screen. - olfarmerExplorer III love my scan gauge! I have a Chevy gasser.
