Just for information, Scan gage/ultra gage keep the computer powered-up even when the engine is turned off. This might be a problem if you dry camp for an extended period. I don't know about the dongle.
My ScanGauge goes dark after a few minutes with the engine off.
Both my scan gauge and my Edge CTS went dark within seconds of turning off the ignition.
I have engine programmer that has LEDs the monitor the ECU state. With a scan gage/ultra gage hooked up and programed, the ECU monitor indicates that the ECU is stilled powered-up. Yes, the display does go blank, and dark, but the programmer indicates the ECU is still using power. I didn't mean to start a debate, just information.
More information. Current draw to maintain Scan Gauge memory when turned off is 2mA. (0.024 watts) IMHOP little effect on boondock time. Probably same as radio. Less than alarms. Good luck.

Mine shuts off within seconds of turning off engine. 2mA draw to maintain memorie. Good luck.
Jack H - dodge_guyExplorer IIJust some more info. I got my Dongle from Amazon, it is an ELM version. Yes I do believe it will work with a windows phone. If you look up the APP it should tell you which systems it is compatible with.
And if your into it, it will show you MPG, and trip data. It will also give you HP and TQ numbers along with 0-60, 1/4mile, G force, and when in racetrack mode will show you when and where you are braking and accelerating on your map (race course). it`s a very good APP for the small amount of money needed to get it running, minus the phone of course which most of us will already have! - ArchHoaglandExplorer

UltraGauge shuts off after power removed. Mine is plugged in all the time even when my coach is stored next to my house. - crcrExplorer

I have been trying to decide if I wanted to try the Scan Gauge. After reading comments, I'm tempted to try the dash command app. I understand the app and how it works, but since I'm far from being high tech., I don't know where or how to connect it to the motorhome.
Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks in advance.
It`s very easy. first you need a Bluetooth or WiFi dongle (the dongle is a tool that just plugs into the OBDII port under the dash, Iphones require a WiFi dongle, all others can use a B;ue Tooth version. then you download the APP you want on the smart phone, connect to the dongle wirelessly, setup the APP for your particular needs and start using the APP. it really is very easy to do.
Anyone use this with a windows phone?? There are 4 or 5 apps for it but nothing says specifically for windows phone

Where did you get the blue tooth dongle?
Clicky here for lots o choices.
To answer oldman's question, it plugs into the OBD2 port under the dash. This is where mechanics plug in to pull data and read and clear codes.
