Slide problem

Question

I have been having a problem with one of the slides on my 05 Fleetwood Pace Arrow
On occasions {4 times} the bed room slide did not want to come in, if I leave it for about 15 mins then try again it some times works
other time it took 45 mins
This has happened while still on shore power also
normal practice is to have engine running while putting slides in/out

The motor is an electic unit by Power Gear

A dealers told me the motor needs to be replaced, no suprise there.
I have also heard that there could be some kind of relay switch that has an auto reset,that is why it take the 15 mins to reset

any one have info on this

Check the rubber wipers on the outside walls between the slide and the RV wall. They get stiff with age, creating drag which causes the motor to work harder and thereby using more amps and tripping the automatic resetting circuit breaker. I fixed mine with the same problem by treating the rubber with 303 protectant and the slide walls with silicone lubricant.

First thing I'd do if the motors are the same for all your slides (mine are) is swap motors and then check the operation.
Most elec slides have controllers which limit the amt of elec resistance to slide movement. The controllers are usually adjustable pots that you can very carefully adjust to fix a slide that won't go in/out correctly. Sometimes the controllers are bad and can checked by swapping them out as well.

Our Bedroom slide did the same thing. After removing the bed, and covering material to get to the slide mechanism, I found a wire had come loose in the plug for the motor.  After re-seating the wire, and plugging in back in, I used a wire Tye-wrap to keep if from working loose again, actually 2 wraps, one on the wire pair, and another on the 2 connector half's.  This has fixed the problem for 4 years, we hope it is permanent.

I had a similar problem with my 2003 Bounder. The relay on the controller board was failing. You may have the same setup where the controllers for the slides are next together, if so swap the 6 wire plug between them and use the other switch to run the slide in, then put the plugs back. If this works then you need a new controller relay board.
