Slide won't go in
Just bought a Thor Miramar 34.2 and having issues with the slide....can't get it to go back in. Sure wish we got some kind of manual that trouble shoots this problem! Anyone have a solution?

- Have you checked to see that all storage bins below the slide are properly
closed. Also, if you can hear the motor turning, you may have a shear pin
broke. - Glad it's fixed.
Not sure what calibrating the jacks could have to do with your slides though.

Likewise for the jacks. - In my experience slides are almost always trouble of some kind - maybe it's just my 2005 Georgie Boy Landau, but I've had lots of trouble with my big slide - first I couldn't get it to close all the way and when I was driving it to someplace to get it fixed, on the on-ramp to I-40 it came all the way out. After a bunch of phone calls, I finally tried 911 and said that it might not be an emergency, but I need a police escort and explained why. It's really exciting to drive down an interstate hwy with a police car in front and another behind - even flashing lights. So they led me to a place to get it fixed. It took all day, but they welded some part that had broken. That lasted three or four years before it happened again (fortunately that time in a campground)and it got sort-of fixed so I could get home. After two or three more incidents one in LA and one in FL, I finally got it to my regular RV repair shop (where by this time they all know me by name)and they, I think, got it fixed. I've not taken it out since then, but I will later this month, so I guess I'll find out then. Good luck with your slide. Chuck

It's possible that even though you have voltage in the basement, feeding the slide motor that can be checked at the controller and if one is present, it could well be disappearing as soon as you apply the load. In this case, check the firewall under the hood and see if there's an ignition relay with normally closed contacts. Reading good across these NC contacts means nothing under load, so after unplugging the relay, replace it with a #12 or #10 jumper wire in the place of these contacts. This is a shot in the dark, with the red flag being Thor and especially if the slide controls are made by Lippert. However checking for this said voltage under load and no load would be proper for a proper troubleshooting procedure and with any of them. If you find a controller for it in the basement you should see voltage on the control terminals as well when you operate the key switch, since the slide motor itself is fed from chassis power and the controls are fed from the house batteries. Obviously, a multimeter is required for these procedures and doing so by any other means will be chasing ghosts in a windstorm. Then again, many get lucky without any troubleshooting knowledge whatsoever.- Thanks for all the advice. I think we tried them all. The solution took a while but we finally found out that the jacks had not been properly calibrated. All is good now!
- My friend has an 07 Camelot and had the same problem today. We fixed it by turning off the battery disconnect switch back near the batteries then turning it back on. This reset something and they work beautifully now. Don't know if this will help your Thor but might be worth a try.
- You indicated you were new to this. Have you run the slide in and out before. If not the check the little things. Is aux battery engaged and is the motor running. Is emergency brake engaged. Is driver's seat forward?
