- alkillionExplorerDid I see you mention your rig was a diesel? If that is the case, you may need to look into other additives. There are many on the market, personally I use Biobor products for diesel. I do use Stabil for my cars (gas).

Run the generator each month, as recommended by the manufacturer. It takes a lot less time for it to reach operating temperature and burn off any moisture in the generator engine system than it does in the main chassis engine.
Exactly, the gen will get a good exercise where the main engine won't. - rgatijnet1Explorer III

As for the generator --everything I read, and what others suggest is to "exercise it 30-45min a month under load and then no load for 5 min before shutting down
Whats the right way??

Whats the right way?? - mikeh449Explorerdon't do the mh engine for 30 min just let it sit you are doing more damage than good same with the genny check your manual
- Mfar1234ExplorerSo should I worry at all if I run the motorhome desiel and generator for 30 min every month?
- the_silverbackExplorerfor 3 or 4 months I would use either. My MH and lawn equipment and one car don't have gas added for up to 6 months. all run great when I start them up.

Personally, I don't like putting acetone in my engines, and I have to wonder; how much does the "lubricity" of fuel improve by putting a couple ounces of light machine oil (3-in-1 oil, sewing machine oil, etc.) in 20 to 30 gallons of fuel?
However, I do use Sta-Bil. It does keep the gas from turning to varnish! - SRTExplorer

It looks like Sta-Bil is what you want for 3-4 months of storage.
I would also try to fill up before parking with ethanol free, it stores much better.
www.pure-gas.org has a list of ethanol free stations
Seafoam does a great job cleaning the fuel system, and would be good to use on a tank where the engine will be working harder than normal.
In Minnesota the ethanol-free gasoline is 91 Octane which runs at a minimum increase of 20ยข a gallon. Usually it is more as we use it for our small engines as it is cheaper in the long run (how do I know :R) - John_JoeyExplorer

Well, according to the seafoam site you can use it to stabilize fuel and store it for up to 2 years. read Here.

Sta-bil will be cheaper if you're just concern about 2-4 months.
I would always put one can of Seafoam into a 1/4 tank of gas (20 gallons.) Cost a little more, but my old 460 ran like a champ so why change.
The real trick is to make sure you run the engine to get the mix up into the injectors before putting the rig to sleep. That Seafoam mix would then have time to do it's magic vs Sta-bil that would just sit there.
