We have a 2021 fleetwoodbounder 33c is the step suppose to come out when we open the door when everything is off. Our winne and itasca did is there something Im doing wrong? We are still learning about the bounde.

Should be a switch near the door. Along with the step, there may also be switches for chassis and house which could be affecting it.

The step will come out once when you shut off the engine and open the door. It's a safety feature, so you don't step out and fall down.After that the step will function in what ever fashion that you have the switches set to.Richard

And the switch setting when it's shut off after extending with the first use.

Look for you Battery Control Center box. It is a black rectangular. It will look like the third picture here. https://rvcustomproducts.com/f73-1020There is a fuse in it. Download the .PDF Block Diagram and it should help.

Kwikee has two different step controllers. With the step extended look at the black box under the top (Techincally the bottom INSIDE) step. If it is SQUARE or Squarish) it's the "old" oneif' it looks triangular (Really a nore complex 4 sided fiugre. I thin Trapizoid) It is the new oneWhat is the difference?OLD. the DOOR switch was a POWER switch. Though if the steps were extended ignition sense would override to retract. They remained so no matter what.The NEW the DOOR switch is an OVERRIDE.. it locks the steps EXTENDED (Again unless overroad by ignition sense) NOTE that Ignition sense is not reliable and will often leave 'em out. Second if the rig is used ... I installed a 2nd override for the door switch. When I activated it it mattered not if the door was open or not. the steps thought the door was closed. I had one reason for installing it and another (later) for loving it. The ONLY difference between the OLD and New was HOW the step switch was labeled. The older switches were open when turned "on". The newer were closed when turned "on". They changed due to customers getting confused. Doug

No that's the door switch. on the new open when door open
The control switch locked it IN both IN and OUt positions on the old. OUT only on the new.
