Storage bays: carpeted or rhinocast?

As we continue researching our future Class A purchase, and have narrowed the gasser field down to the Tiffin Allegro and Newmar Canyon Star, we have noticed Tiffin (and some other brands) has the rhinocast-lined bays and Newmar (and Winnebago) has carpeted bays.

Tiffin claims their bays are easier to clean. I have seen photos of carpeted bays on used Class A's with lots of stains and soiling which seems to support Tiffin's claim of easier cleaning with the rhinocast bays.

Opinions and experiences from you experienced Class A owners out there? Is one better over the other?

I'd go for the rhinocast (don't know what that is) and if that doesn't work you can always add carpeting/astroturf remnants.

Makes a ton of sense to me---thank you sir!

yup but i also lined the floors with thick cardboard...think thick like on large shipping boxes.
  • If I was going to be turning my storage bays into a man cave then I'd be concerned with stained carpet. But since they are for storage I don't care much. Mine are carpeted and while I have pulled everything out and vacuumed them out, I could not tell you if they are stained or not. Never really looked. I personally would take the carpet over the rhino lining as it keeps stuff from sliding.
  • Whether or not something has carpeted storage bays would have zero impact which rig I would purchase.

  • This is a pretty minor factor in a purchase but my 20 year old Winnie carpeted bays look just fine
  • I suggest astro turf. Keeps stuff from sliding and you can shake it out if needed.
