Typically, you'll find some type of protective skin used to keep water out. Some are secured to the wood subfloor in a sheet like fashion and others are added after insulation is installed and then attached to the frame. Motorized RV's usually use a sheet attached to the wood, trailers like to enclose the bottom of the frame.
