Thor Tuscany Owners--------Comments Please

I have been looking at a new Thor Tuscany 36MQ. I have gotten mixed reviews. Therefore, I am going directly to those who actually have experience with this manufacturer and product line.

Please tell me of your experience.......... good or bad.
  • We have a 2012 42 RQ. Had some problems to begin with and after I took it back to Thor, they fixed all issues with no problems. They paid for my fuel and lodging so can't ask for much more than that. As stated earlier, you will have issues with almost any unit. So far I have been happy with Thor. Their 24 hour customer service line is great.
  • We own a 2014 Tuscany 40RX, purchased in September from Motor Home Specialist. We've put on about 8,000 miles so far, including the Colorado mountains, and have been very happy with the unit. We've had very few problems beyond the usual shakedown issues, and all have been solved to our satisfaction by Thor. Having been to Thor factory service with a previous coach, we scheduled a factory visit a few months after purchase, knowing they would take good care of us, and they did.

This is our third motor home, and second DP, so we knew what we wanted and shopped thoroughly. We could have afforded a significantly higher-priced unit, but in the end found what we felt was the best combination of features and quality for the price in our Tuscany. No regrets here -- I'd make the same decision again.
  • We have owned 9 RV'S and have camped and traveled since the early 80's. None are perfect, and problems come with owning one. The true measure of a company, is how they step up to the plate if there are problems, ie; answering phone calls, letters, emails, etc. If they do turn out a Lemon, they work with their customer. We did not find that to be the case with Thor.

Tiffin, Newmar, Winnebago, Monaco are well regarded, along with other brands. Also, all brands do not have the same re-sale/trade in value. A companys reputation means a lot. You will hear good and bad about all of them, but with good research, you will get a good feel, for the direction to go. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire, and all that glitters, isn't gold. ( to use some old clichés).

We've owned a Tiffin since 05. In our opinion, you just can't beat their customer service. If we are on the road, and have a problem, they answer their phone! The Tiffin family and their employees are some of the nicest people you can meet. TiffinRV.net is a great forum and members discuss all brands. You might want to check that forum.

    Good luck with your choice.
  • We own a 2012 Thor Tuscany 42RQ and would not own anything else. Well maybe a new Prevost but unless I hit the lotto I will stick with my Tuscany.
We've put approx 15,000 miles on it and its done great with only the typical things every RV needs.
We came from a Jayco Super C and it was the best thing we could have done.
