Tires for a class c

Hello I just purchased a class c motorhome. The prior owner said that the tires were still good until 2017-2018. The tires still look good. To be on the safe side I want to replace them. I live in virginia and would like to know where is the best place to purchase the tires.

    Transforce HT?

A very respected tire. Wouldn't hesitate to use them.

Although it's true that every manufacturer's tire in the same designation (like 225/75R16E) has the same capacity specs, I chose the overbuilt Bridgestone Duravis R250. Only because we always operate in hot climate and coach is right at max GVWR.

Transforce HT was on my short list for replacements.
  • I just replaced the tires on my 2002 Gulf stream class c with 2004
tires with less than 38000 miles and pretty much new looking tread
on them. 12 yrs old and had to keep putting air in them. I put
Firestone Enforcer HT on. Paid 165 installed each :C Pretty cheap when it comes to Safety First.
  • Check "Tirerack.com" Many times they are cheaper than local sellers even when paying shipping.

Other than them, Costco or Sams, or see if you have a Les Schwab near you.
  • Anywhere that sell LT (light truck tires) in Load Range E.
Fed DOT E range is what ypu are looking for.

    Many brands.
Some people have their preference over others just like ice cream or cake.
Do an internet search and see how to read the codes on the tires. That will tell you when they were made. Most RV tires do not ware out they time out. Usually years max. Look for sidewall cracking.

    Also read the PSI recommendations.
They are the SAME for all Load range E tires.
PSI should be set based on the weight they carry.
80 SPI is MAX and is not the normal PSI.

    Added info:
Tire pressure info with axle ratings

    Using Tire chart:
    225/75/16E

65 PSI Single (Front) equates to the GAWR of the 4600# front axle E450 used through 2007 (chassis year)
    and
75PSI works out to GAWR of the 5000# axle used from 2008 up.

    PSI chart has:
    Single
    60 PSI for single = 2190 lbs
65 PSI for single = 2335 lbs – max 4600 lb. Axle for our year E450

    Duel = axle lbs
    70 PSI for Duels = 4440 lbs
    75 PSI for Duels = 4660 lbs
    80 PSI for Duels = 4940 lbs

    Hope this helps.
  • Tire prices in northern VA are not that great. I got a good price on 6 Kelly tires about 3.5 years ago but I would not recommend the dealer that installed them. There is a place called Eddies near Berkeley Springs, WV that I have bought car tires from in the past. They also have truck tires and have decent prices.
