Toilet upgrade and chemical question

Looking to get a Dometic 310 to replace our Thetford. Is the hand wand cleaner thing a necessity? Also, is RV Parts Country a reputable place to buy from?

On a related note, I was looking at the Thetford tissue digestor and level cleaner chemicals. Do they work?
  • Perhaps I should clarify on the chemicals. The previous owner didn't do much, if any, tank maintenance so I've got some cleaning to do. I was wondering if those specific chemicals would help get it all to a clean start so I can simply maintain the tank.
  • I recently replaced my old 110 with the 310. Extra height because we have them in our stick home. About 10 minutes to install after the old one was out. direct replacement. Bought the one with the hose also. Got it from RVparts country co. The price could not be beat. Also ordered new steps from them. Now have 4 steps instead of 3. Good people to work with. I never use any chemical other than Rid X in my toilet and the Ridx is GOOD for the septic tank when you dump rather than all the poisons that most dump into the hole. I hate to say this but Camping World needs to wake up because with the internet anybody can shop price and save money. The toilet was over $100 cheaper
  • When I first started RVing I used chemicals, later I decided to see if I needed them so I stopped using them. No difference. Haven't used them since.
  • We replaced ours with a 321 (the short version) earlier this year - love it, and I love the sprayer. It just makes the toilet so much easier to keep clean, if you catch my drift. No bidet type usage for us...I can't imagine the wet mess I'd make!

Here's a post from our blog on our replacement: New Potty

We ordered from Amazon. The first one arrived broken, the second one was intact. I think such is the nature of toilets. Our friends remodeled their home bathroom and ordered an expensive ToTo toilet and it took two tries before getting one to arrive in one piece. I'm not sure why they don't package them better...but I'm sure they've run the numbers and decided that it is cheaper to replace than pack correctly.
  • digester, no need stuff shouldn't be in there long enough to matter. its a holding tank, not a septic tank.
hand wand, had them on all of my MHs, never used one.

  • I find the hand sprayer comes in "handy" when cleaning the toilet with a brush. It helps to move any debris down to the flapper valve.

That's the only thing I use it for.

Some folks use it like a bidet "butt" I'm not that limber and would end up with a mess.
  • Check Amazon, I bought a replacement toilet there for a good price. It did not have a hand wand, I didn't think is mattered.

  • For more info you might want to review the previous posts on the toilet subject. First search for `thetford' then search the results for `310' then go back and search the results for `320' which seems to get high marks.
