Tow Dolly Procedures At RV Park

I'm a new owner to a master tow. Went from ne ohio to savannah ga. I'm not a fan of Dollys. Give 4 down another look. Ours was a pull through so in that respect I can't help you out. I suppose if I'd had to back in id have pulled near site, taken car off and park it, take dolly off and push it behind where motor home will be then back in.

Some dolly users put a hitch on the toad so they don't have to manhandle the dolly to get it to the back of the site.

At check in... I remove toad from dolly... use it to ride campground to select a site or preview assigned site... return to MH and drive to site, DW drives toad... unhitch dolly, push into site and back MH in.. Done..

OHHHHHHHH Boy! That Italian I'm married to would think she's on a raceway. I'd do the same or walk back and get it. Some places let you store it right next to the office. Blue Water Key Fl comes to mind.

I had my tow dolly for 25 years and it was the backing in spots that finally convinced me to flat tow. Not that it is difficult, just I was getting older. The basic procedure is to unhook just before or just after the site. Then decide will the dolly be parked in front on in the rear of the RV. If in the rear, push the empty dolly into the site and make sure it is out of the way. Then back in. If in front, back in, then push the dolly up tight, perhaps sliding the tongue under the RV. In both cases, the addition of a drop down wheel on the tongue is a really big help. The drop down wheel is available at Walmart and online. In all my years of MHing I have only once been asked to store the dolly off site. Outdoor Resorts in Palm Springs had me store the dolly in their trailer lot. It really was not a problem as they had a transport vehicle (small tractor) to take it to the lot and return it when I was ready to check out. Not a problem at all.

99% of the time I am able to get pull thru sites so no problem. But I also have a hitch on my toad which makes it easy to move the dolly where ever. Also you should install a tilt wheel on the dolly tow bar just like a boat trailer. Makes it easy to raise or lower the dolly and also makes it easier to maneuver the dolly by hand. Three years now with my Master Tow and no problems. 4 down costs more and limits your choice of toads. And you don't have to modify each new car you buy. My wife and I each have a car we can tow and I have a van that also tows the dolly. Lots more options, lower initial cost, a little more work to use. If I was a full timer or limited physically I would tow 4 down as we probably wouldn't own 3 other vehicles and hooking up is easier.

Most of us just push it in by hand...

X2, It only takes a few minutes to do. JMO

Remove the car either at the check in or near the site whichever seems easiest . Then drive to the site if you can back a trailer then the dolly can also be backed into the site ( car is no longer on it ) and I use the rear camera however most times I just start it back then unhook and roll it back then back in over the top of the tongue to save space. It's very easy to roll on reasonable flat spaces .if not physically able anymore do to age back problems etc , then consider 4 down as a only choice. Best of all options get a pull through space ;-)

Not all campgrounds will allow the dolly on your site, but usually will have someone, most often a work camper, that will move it to storage with a golf cart. Often there's an extra charge to store it....Dennis
