Tow Master Dolly strap ripped off

Hello. I have a master tow dolly that I purchased a year ago. Towed my car to Florida this past winter and all was okay. Left on Wednesday of this past week on a trip from Peterborough Ontario to New Brunswick with my 40' RV towing my car using the Tow Master. Did check the straps on the wheels after first 10 minutes driving and again when getting Diesel in Kingston and again when we stopped for an overnight in St Nicholas Quebec. Had to change fuel filters after passing Edmundston where I noticed the strap on the passenger side was off and upon further inspection the ratchet strap portion was intact but there was only a foot of strap was remaining. The hook portion with the rest of the strap was missing. Nothing was holding the passenger tire to the tow dolly. Yes very lucky that nothing bad happened. My girlfriend came with me on the trip so she drove the car the remainder way behind me. We went into Moncton today to Princess Auto, a store that sells trailers and contacted u-haul but we cannot find a strap for the return home. We are leaving Wednesday and Monday is a statutory holiday. I need your assistance. Does anyone have any ideas on what to use in place of the strap? I know how brilliant all of you are so I would like to hear your thoughts and can we please keep the humor to a full roar. Thank you in advance.5

    Use a 2" yellow ratchet strap over the tire. Maybe deflate the tire slightly, but where you can still drive it. Straps should be available at Home Depot or a similar store. Have you checked with local RV stores?

    So Bill you are saying to use a ratchet strap that does not have the sides that holds the tire better in place. Is this correct?

    I had something similar happen with the straps on a tow dolly. I bought a few straps, used one on the tire as suggested above, and used a second on the a-frame tied to the dolly as a safety strap.

    Yes. I've seen them used on some rigs. Try it, see how it seems to fit. Go a ways an check it. Near the front bumper is the frame hook that the car shippers use to secure the car? If so, when you by the two inch yellow strap, they usually come in pairs. Use the second one from the bump hook to someplace on your dolly for added safety.

    You towed it a ways with only one strap, and by no means am I telling you to do that, but try the single wide 2" strap and see what happens. Check it often until you get a little confidence in it.

    Don't forget to deflate the tire some.
