Towable vehicles

We have purchased a Forest River Lexington on Ford 450 V10 Chassis. Would like recommendations for towable vehicles. Thanks! Skydance
  • Look at the Honda Fit. A great car with lots of room in the back. Good gas mileage and it can be flat towed.
  • First you need to know what your towing capacity is. Most Class C's are 5000 lbs...but some are only 3500 lbs.

Then you need to determine if you want a manual or auto trans toad.

You can check with Remco or Motor Home Magazine.

In your case, the lighter the better. Don't forget you will also need a base plate, tow bar, lighting kit, and supplemental braking system.

    Good luck

  • Jeep Wrangler.
I towed a Rubicon Unlimited (mildly lifted and modified) for several thousand miles, over the Continental Divide many times, no trouble.
    My tow vehicles were:
A Dodge Ram 3500 CTD with an 11.5 foot Caribou camper.
    A 1995 Tioga Class C with 460 engine
and the current coach (see sig.)
  • do you want an automatic transmission? do a first cut on the trailer life towing guide, but confirm anything in the owner's manual for the exact vehicle you intend to buy. if used, Saturn's (some) were towable.

  • Many GM cars, most Fords (not Escape), and many Jeeps are flat towable. That is quite a choice.
  • I would look at the little smart cars that you can tow. I towed my wrangler one time with my 450 and while it was doable I really felt it was behind me. Now the FT I never knew it was there unless I looked in the camera or when I turned.
  • We like our Chevy Sonic ltz (turbo is not flat towable)

    Oops, somehow posted twice
