We recently bought a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited to tow. I don't think there is a better tow car. Some friends have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and that is a great lux tow car. Motorhoming for us takes us to lots of not so lux places. Here are some advantages.
1. Put the transfer case in neutral and tow without leaving the key in and partially on.
2. Very versatile tops. Completely closed hardtop. All or part of the top and doors come off. So you can have a convertible too.
3. Go nearly anywhere.
4. Rugged.
5. Made in the USA
6. Lots of room for people or things.
7. High clearance.
8. Real 4 wheel drive not AWD.
9. Very comfortable seating position.
10. Well made. Mine has 3600 miles on it and not one defect.
11. Designed and made in the USA.
12. It's a Jeep.
We looked at the CRV, Equinox, all the Ford SUVs. One drive in the 4 door Wrangler and the decision was made. Way more fun than a CRV. Be sure to drink a shot of expresso before test driving a CRV. Actually the difficulty for us on the CRV was that we have an Acura MDX. The CRV is just way too much less. The Equinox is a nice looking car, but it is very hard to find a 4 wheel drive. Or one with a sunroof from the factory. The Ford that would be the best smaller SUV to tow Ford does not allow any more.
