I believe that's part of the question he's trying to ask. - NeverHome2ExplorerWe looked at enclosed car hauler trailers a couple of years ago to haule our Ford escape and HD Triglyde. The biggest problem was the Escape is 14'7" long and the trike is 7' long. Adds up to a long trailer with the problem of loading the car. The inside dimension of 8' means crawling out the car window and crawling out the side door of the trailer. We bought a beautiful Featherlite flat deck aluminum trailer but at 18' can only take the car. We could trade the Escape on a smart car but no... This spring we decided to buy a Ford F-150 4x4 which is flat towable and haul the trike in the truck when we wanted to take it. Had to buy long aluminum ramps to get the trike in the pickup but they work great. Just sayin'.

Gcwr is not the end all and it doesnt take much thinking to put a Harley and a small car in a 20ft trlr. I know i could in mine as i have taken the time to lay it out inside the trlr.
The OP didn't say type of car or type of Harley. A mini-cooper and a Harley sportster, yeah you can use a 20 foot trailer. I'm making the assumption he's talking about something bigger.
As for the CGVWR, that's up to you and the OP if you want to exceed that number. I said for myself, I'd stick under it. - nevadanickExplorerGcwr is not the end all and it doesnt take much thinking to put a Harley and a small car in a 20ft trlr. Hi, my motor-home has a 10,000 lb tow hitch. I want to know do's and don'ts of towing an enclosed trailer with a car and Harley inside.
The capacity of the hitch doesn't necessarily indicate what you can tow. That is going to be determined by the Combined Gross Vehicle Weight rating of CGVWR. You should have a decal in your motorhome that tells you what that is. That number will be the total weight you can have when you add in your motorhome, all it's cargo and fluids, plus the weight of the trailer and it's contents. You aren't supposed to exceed that number. Does that mean the motorhome won't move if you're a few pounds over? No it doesn't, but I'd probably try and stay under that number if it were me.
Depending on the set up, you're talking a really big trailer to carry both a car and a Harley. A Harley is not going to fit sideways in most enclosed trailers and even if it could fit, how would you get it in there sideways? Maybe a side door, but I doubt it. So you are likely talking putting the bike and car in it end to end. You need probably 9 feet for the Harley and probably at least 18 feet for most cars, plus some room for tie downs and being able to move inside the trailer. You're looking at probably a 30 to 32 foot trailer. Even if you get a V nose and put the bike up front, you still need 30 to 32 feet. They make them that big, but that's one big trailer. - Slojoe72ExplorerI tow 32' enclosed trailer race care golf cart
ect.... With my 40' holiday rambler - prstlkExplorerThis did not work well at all for us. During our first year of ft we towed a 20 ft enclosed trailer with a mini cooper two bikes bicycle + other junk. We we went to alaska we parked the trailer and towed a ranger 4 down. Sold the trailer and will never go back.
This may not be the case for you if your on vacation or long weekends.
We found it hard to find parks that we would fit us without un hooking the trailer. It took 10 to 15 minutes to load vs 2 for the truck. It was a pain to park or maneuver.
Just my 2 - mdprinceExplorerI usually flat tow my jeep, but do have a 20' enclosed trailer, when I want to bring more toys. I've had it loaded with 4 quads, 3 dirt bikes and the jeep - once. Towed just fine, but my RV has a 15k towing capacity. Make sure you take into account the weight of the trailer !!

The hitch is not as important as the RV. What do you have and do you have enough total capacity available to tow such a setup?
