Transmissioncontrols not working

I have a 1996 Monaco Dynasty. I just drove back from visiting New York City and after a few days went to start up the RV. The engine starts up just fine but there is no r adings at the Allison transmission box whereby I push to either be in neutral, drive or reverse. I am told that there might get be a fuse for this panel but can not locate fuse for this item. Does anyone know where it may get be or most importantly what makes get be why I cannot use this panel. Thank you in advance

  • So I was able to remove siding that was protecting the ECM attached to the module that has NDR but cannot see a fuse but lots of wires. I look at the sides and underneath the ECM but cannot fins fuse.
  • Is your e brake set? Air pressure up? The fuse is below the shift panel. The entire panel has to be removed to get to it....Dennis
  • I had a similar problem this spring. I found 2 problems;

    1. The tech that wired my toad connections for 12 volt charge left the ECM power wire off the terminal and it was making intermittent contact. This caused the transmission to wink out and come back until it finally fell off completely. In this case, the Allison went into default "get me home" mode. I think it picked 4th gear. The tranny temps went up starting in forth, but I got home (20 miles) ok.

    2. The plugs on the bottom of the shift pad were loose.

    After I re-established the 12 volt connection, I could get diags from the shift pad.
  • Another approach is to use the "UP/DOWN" arrows on the Allison shift pad to check for diagnostic codes.

    Easy from the drivers seat and well described in your Allison manual and on Allison's website.
  • You will have two separate 12 VDC positives to the Allison ECU-- one (usually 5 amp fuse) for "memory" and another one for ignition on.

    With the second one (the one for RUN) powered only when ignition is on, you need to verify that the ignition switch and ignition solenoid are working. EASY: Does the dash HVAC fan work as it should (only with ignition on)?

    Yes, check the fuses in your coach 12 VDC fuse box that supply the Allison.

    But absolutely UNplug and REplug the connections at the Allison shift pad and at the Allison ECU. Could just be a loose connection.
