I've installed two Travelers on fiberglass roofs and never used the plate. However, I believe they recommend the plate on a rubber roof. Does your Fleetwood have the rubber (EDPM) roof?
  • Thanks "ezgoin", the Genie is the first product from DirecTv that has worked really well.

I'm not Bill.Satellite, but I just had a new Trav'ler installed and my Genie (HR-44) and a Genie client for the BR both work perfectly when moved from the house the MH. No set-up issues at all. Plug 'em in watch TV.
  • Rather than add a landing pad for the roller when the dish is stowed I just added a strip of EternaBond. Works great.
  • I just installed a new one a month ago. The newest version came with the landing plate in the box. I had to make one for my previous TravLer.

That is not correct. The roofing material is not at issue, only the roof structure. However, if you mount this antenna on a coach with a rubber roof a small (3" x 4" or so) landing plate is required where the roller rests on the roof.

I would consider it to be over kill. It's called a thin roof mounting plate and that's really its intent. If you have enough structure in your roof to walk on it and get a good bite from the screws then you don't need the plate. Be sure to put a thick bead of caulk (Dicor) under the base ring and then screw and caulk around all edges and screws.
    You will love that antenna!
