- Most of the flip down TV's are RECESSED into the roof cavity. If you try to install any type flip down without a recessed cavity, you will hit your head on the TV when it is flipped up. The mounts for most of the recessed TV's is located where your front overhead cabinets above the dash mount to the ceiling as there is usually a stud. BUT, the recessed TV's have a Steel brace/stud that is installed to help support the mechanism that folds down. Most motorhomes will NOT have a heavy duty stud, much less a Steel stud to support the mechanism. Doug

What would make you think there is no framing in the ceiling?
What would hold up the roof?
You will most certainly find cross members of some type running across the roof - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIICeiling TV mounts........LINK
Just need to locate roof truss to mount it.
Something is up there supporting roof........ - RoyBExplorer IIYou most likely will not find much support in the ceiling areas. Most ceiling consist of thin 1/4 -inch or less ceiling board without any studs to tie to...
You may have to mount a flat back board first and secure them to the ceiling area using MOLY BOLTS to spread out the weight distribution.
It can be done if you can find support from the thin ceiling.
