Twin beds in bedroom--Convert to Full or queen bed?

Hi
I am probably buying a 2006 Itasca spirit, which has 2 twin beds with a nightstand in the middle. I thought it would be easy to convert to one bed. However, a friend just told me it might b very difficult. Does anyone know?
Thanks!
  • Just slightly off topic but we ordered our RV with twin beds. They provide more space for changing clothes between them and also provides a straight shot into and thru the bathroom into the living area. It is also possible to provide different firmness of mattresses for the users. Very easy to make up in the morning especially because we use sleeping bags and two twins make a king so each person has more space than half of a queen.
  • Just a couple of things to check out. What is currently under the beds and how will you access the area once you do the conversion? How will you then make up the bed.
  • Don't know about that model, but many twin bed RVs are designed to easily convert to a queen or king bed by just moving a few cushions. Should be able to find the Owners Manual online, which would have the info.
  • It's actually quite easy to make a queen. You might have to remove the lamp stand. Measure the total width of the space to assure there is enough room for the new mattress. I built a king into the back of my old Lazy Daze TB. Used 3/8 birch plywood for the deck and framed it with clear pine 1X2's.
