But being that ethanol is so heavily subsidized by our tax dollars it's cheaper to lower octane with ethanol than previous methods. Hence distribution outside metro areas is most likely 10% ethanol.
So if 10% is cheaper to produce than 0%, how likely are lobbyists pushing for 15%? It's all about money.
If your V-10 is designed for 87 octane then run the cheapest 87 you can find. REMEMBER, HOWEVER that it's the same ethanol that will be sitting in (to gum up and corrode) your generator's fuel system. Running the generator periodically can keep bad things from happening, or draining the float bowl between uses (but who does that?).
