uncomfortable (Driving my DP)

Thing change as we age. When I was 21 I would drive from CT to Miami in 24 hrs just stopping to go to the bathroom and to eat no pain. As I got older I would drive 4 hrs then sleep for 4 hrs went my wife drove. When I bought the MH at age 58 I had arthritis in my knee so bad I could not drive more that 1/2 hr without throbbing pain. I would have to put my right leg on the dog house and drive with my left before raising my seat which helped. Now at 66 I am struggling with the sciatica pain and use the wedge cushion and a back rest stopping every 2 hrs with some relief. This last week we took my wife's CRV down to Fla and I used a vibrating seat cushion plugged into an inverter which can cycle up and down your whole back which seemed to provide the most relief. I will definitely use this in the MH.

I will sometimes switch feet, so I cam driving with my left foot instead of my right.

Thinking way out of the box, are DPs fly by wire? I wonder what it would take to mount a second pedal on the other side of the brake with a toggle switch to choose between pedals?

Those of you who are using a wedge shaped cushion, I assume you're sitting on the cushion and not behind your back, and is the large part of the wedge under your knees or under your butt?

I have one of those vehicle cushions that fit the seat and up the back of the chair that has 3 electric vibrators in the back side near the tail bone, another at the small of the back, and one at the shoulders.
It seems my rear starts to feel sore and achy after 3-4 hours and this vibrator (plugs into the cigarette lighter) works wonders on it. I have a 2004 DP with leather seats and it seems they are very comfortable for the first couple of hours, and I do try to stop every 2-3 hours but sometimes the rest areas just don't appear in the right places.

We have electric position seats in the tow and I'll readjust 2 or 3 times during a days drive 200-250 miles.

I can't give you a single answer to your question. Although you got me by over a decade, I've had issues driving for a long time. The wallet thing is valid. I switched to the front pocket at least 10 years ago. I also have a wedge cushion that I use in two of my cars. Have a different cushion I use in the RV. We had to sell a BMW because I couldn't drive it because of the seat. Try some of the suggestions given here. I still can only drive about 6 hours in the RV. But I can walk 10 miles. Go figure.

I figured that out when I was in my 30's, been carrying it in my front pocket for 35 years, try it, I guarantee it will make a difference

Have you seen a doctor? Do you drive your truck or CRV for 2+ hours? If so, can you get better driver's seat in the MH so you can be as comfortable as in the truck or CRV?

Yup. A big fat wallet will wreak havoc with your whole spinal/hip system. It doesn't have to be that fat either.

Definitely get the wallet out of the back pocket. Consider moving the drivers chair to the right to cure some of that lack of alignment you mentioned. Not that big a job. Involves some hole drilling and some plugging of the old holes. That way the seat could be moved back if the need arises.
Give some consideration to one of those beaded seat and back cushions. I have known of people who drive long distances or are behind the wheel for long stretches who give them high marks.
Again though, The wallet has to leave the back pocket first thing.

Look at Walmart for a "as seen on TV" Forever Comfy cushion. Also di the Wallet removal thing. The cushion works well for me, and makes up for the faom in the original seat. Another thing, if your seat is getting mashed on one side, is to find a GOOD upholstery shop that can replace the foam and rebuild the seat. Expensive, but it helps.
