Unusual Event with our Television

When we pull in to a new location we have to run a scan with our television in order to pick up the over the air broadcasts. If we connect to cable instead we don't run any scan, the stations just come in.

A couple days ago we camped at the Anaheim RV Resort near Disneyland, California. We connected to cable but got nothing but snow (not the cold wet kind). The park manager explained that because the park gets HD and digital channels we had to do a scan. We did that and got great cable reception and all their stations. It was a new one on me.

    Now days you should do a Scan whenever you hook up.. Be it Over the air or park cable. Scan to set your TV up, else you will miss programming.

    Rangerider has the only correct answer. You are only receiving the channels that were locked in the last time that you scanned. OTA or cable (analog or digital) doesn't matter.

    Wait...WHAT? Ya'll watch television when you're camping? I go camping to get AWAY from the television and computers and telephones and the crazy, technological world of propaganda..... LOL!

    J/K... I have to scan at each new campground or area if I want to watch the news. My antenna is an old analog and doesn't like the digital OTA stuff much. Hooking up to the cable requires a scan too. Plus, the TV is an old analog set that I have a converter on for OTA digital. As I alluded to, we don't watch too much TV when we're camping.

    I am surprised you wouldn't scan every time you land at a new location cable or antenna. I assumed you had to to maximize bringing any available channels.

    You don't say how far you move. When I travel from CO to CA, for example, I have to rescan anyway. :)

    OTA signals are now all digital.

    Plus, when my inexpensive TV loses power, it forgets and I have to rescan.

    Like someone else said - most RV parks we've hit are still using the analog channels to push content. Separate tuner in the TV.

    That's a nice park. We were there in June.

    Most RV parks in our region are still running analog signals on their systems. We seldom notice as unless there are trees blocking signal we use our satellite system.

    Yes, in fact you can get both analog and digital cable channels on many cable systems....
