Used Allegro Bay

We were looking at a 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bay at a dealer's lot. It was a trade and seemed to be in very good condition. Don't know the model, but it was 36' long. Any owners out there with similar models, and what has been your experience?

  • Ive had no problems with mine 2014 gas, except a switch and a step motor. My buddies 2015 newmar baystar has been a problem child as of day one. been back to the factory twice, so don't believe everything you hear on this forum.
  • You're going to get all sorts of answers from "it's the best" to "it's the worst."

We bought a Tiffin, honestly, more for the floorplan being exactly what we wanted. However, this coach continues to surprise me with how well it's put together vs every one of the 5 trailers and 5th wheels I've owned in the past.

I've also had to call the company for a thing or two and actually surprised I get answers fairly quickly.

Nothing is perfect, and I was also fortunate to buy from an owner who was meticulous. YMMV.

What Allegro Bay model are you looking at? I considered the 2004+ 34XB or the 37DB before we decided we really needed to stick with a bunkhouse. From what I saw, one can get a good value in the used Allegro Bay line. They had better features than the Open Road of those years but for some reason have depreciated to similar values.

I think I remember seeing in 2007 they went to 4 slides on the 37 model, changing it to 37QDB. For a traveling couple I thought that was a super layout, very big kitchen and living area.
  • my BIL lived about 100 mi north of the winnebago factory but didn't like production line manufacturing of an RV and got a Tiffin. discovered that they had put the wrong water tank, too small, on it.

  • Parents had a 2005, bought on my recommendation - I will NEVER recommend a Tiffin again. I fell for the hype without looking beyond the surface. Like so many others theirs too made the trip back to Red Bay, the "fixes" didn't last the trip home. I spent more time working on theirs in the time they owned it than I have ours since 1999.

Friends owned an Allegro Bus, same deal. Beautiful on the outside, nothing but problems, including structural issues.

Many people like their Tiffins, I'm not one of them. I'd keep looking.
