Using bleach to clean water tanks

I would like to clean my water tanks and I have read on this site is to put bleach into my tank and leave overnight. I can't find where the bleach would be poured into as I have a closed system. Can anyone assist please?
  • If you are connected to municipal water, there are already enough chemicals in that water to disinfect your tank. If you have some strange odors or taste, a box of baking soda dissolved in water and dumped in to your hose to fill the tank will get rid of the odor and taste. NO need to fill the tank completely if you can drive the coach. Half full will allow it to splash around. Be sure to run all of your faucets and allow it to completely fill your hot water tank which is a main source of odors.
  • Go to some campground when they open in the spring, some have more then enough chlorine in the water already. I have never put anything in the fresh water tank except potable water, but I use it all the time.
  • We used a long funnel that opened up into the fresh water tank just as when filling up with regular hose pipe.
