Water, water....not everywhere?

Folks,
I recently sold a 1996 Itasca, Suncruiser in like new condition with 36k on the odometer.
I sold it to a friend who is also a neighbor.
This morning he called to say that he has no water in the bathroom. He was using the holding tanks and water pump. I was skeptical. I’ve never had this issue in 15 years of ownership.
So, I went over and, no the bathroom water and the outside shower have no water pressure. However, the toilet does work.
I first had him connect to city water. I made sure the hot water tank bypass was in the fill position and that he got both cold and hot water in the kitchen. All good.
But, there is still no water to the bathroom. The line valves are in the flow position. Yet, the sink and both the inside and outside showers have no water.
I checked for water leaking under the RV. No.
So, I’m at a loss. Could both the hot and cold lines to the bathroom be plugged? Are there in-line valves that I’m missing? Do the lines go to the external shower first, and then to the bath fixtures? Could the outside shower be the issue??

Any suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • I didn’t mind selling to a friend. He’s been after me for three years to sell it to him and he isn’t the slightest bit upset about this issue. I’ll get it. I love a challenge. And, no I don’t know if it was working when we sold it. I never had this happen in 15 years so it is a big surprise. Right after we bought it from my wife’s uncle one of the hydraulic lines to the slide blew out. Now THAT was a challenge.
I find it odd that three faucets aren’t working, so I doubt it’s a screen or a shut off valve. I have a suspicion that there is a clog somewhere in that branch of the plumbing. Especially since the kitchen and water heater portion works, as does the city water drain. I think I’ll tear down the outside shower fixture so I can get a better look at the pipes. It has to be something simple.
  • That's why you sell "as is, where is" and not to friends.
  • Check outside shower. Both handles are most likely on.

It's probably the angle stops. Disconnect the supply lines from the angle stops (shut-offs under the sink). Have a small bucket ready. See if water is flowing through them. If water is flowing through them, then it's the valveset (faucet) itself. You would have to disassemble the valveset to clear the debris.
  • 1. HOW long ago did you sell him this RV?
    2. DID the water system WORK when you sold it to him?
    3. My first thing to do when I have this type problem is to start to take the feed water line loose from the affected faucet/s(Hot or Cold). When unscrewing does water start to squirt out. If so, then I suspect the aerator screen/valve on the faucet spigot is clogged.
    4. IF no water, then you start looking for a set of valves that are shut off and not easily seen or partially hidden.
    5. Since the Toilet and Kitchen sink work that rules out a clogged whole house filter. Doug
  • Filter screens are fine. Neither showers or bathroom sink have any water pressure.
I’m wondering, since the city water inlet is next to the outside shower system, maybe the line is plugged at that point?
  • Any chance the the filter screens are clogged? In my rig the bathroom/interior shower and outside shower share the same water line ... does the interior shower work OK?
