- stokedonlifeExplorerInstalled new Monroe shocks in the rear. Going for a test drive tomorrow. The shocks I pulled out were the originals from 1985. Dang! I'm pretty sure the ride will be different.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi thebeach300,
It may be best to start a thread in the tech section. This particular forum is more about "what I did" than a "help me please".
Also I don't know anyone who has levelers on their class C--so there may be a shortage of good answers. - thebeach300Exploreryou know if you don't want to help a fellow rver just say so don't be silent posted a week ago about levelers and what to do.they say you help your own but i don't see that it's like pulling teeth.
- ronfishermanModeratorInstalled Seelevel tank monitor and sensors today. Big improvement over original monitor.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Filled the water tank in preparation for tomorrow's trip. - CoachDadExplorerDropped it off for yearly state inspection....
....phone call 2 hours later = 3 new tires and a new marker light.... Wasn't expecting the tires!
ouch! - John_and_MarshaExplorerStarted restoration of the drive train on my "brand new" 1984 Jamboree Rallye.
Like a reality show, we are under a time constraint to get it through Maryland inspection. Maryland won't extend the 30 day temporary tag to it's a do or die kind of thing. We have until September 21, 2012 to get it up and running and inspected for permanent tags.
Yesterday and today:
Put it up on blocks.
Removed rear wheels, checked brakes and lines. Discovered a leak near the master cylinder
Emptied gas from gas tank to drop it. Inspect gas tank... Oh darn, it needs replacing or repairing (not a surprise)
Install new alternator belt.
Reset carburetor
replace windshield wipers
replace fuses
It has been so hot and then it started to sprinkle with lots of thunder and lightening so we put a hold until today. It's still hot but not raining.
Wish us luck with our first RV. John is a vintage vehicle lover and in his career has restored motorcycles, cars and tractors so I am hoping he will find this to be a worthwhile project.
Inside the motor home is perfect. Other than vent windows, carburetor and cassette player you would think it was brand new. Oh, no microwave either. - trb46ExplorerInstalled new locks on five compartment doors.
- rehoppeExplorerGot back in town from my Doghouse Saturday. Had the Bilsteins waiting in the garage for installation. So while it was cool this morning i screwed up the courage to crawl under it and do the Rear shocks.
Geeeez, Ford had a better idea, wish they'd paid a bit more attention as to what was involved. Had a lovely time getting the curbside one replaced. Could they have hung the muffler any closer? The lower Bolt and nut was a head scratcher. Shocks on it were original @ 23K miles, but I couldn't quite determine if they were metric or SAE. Finally used a Cresent wrench! Hope the fronts go better, but I've heard differently.
Drove it around the 'horn' and just doing the rears was a noticeable improvement in smoothness and house 'noise'.
Since we're leaving town for a short trip, I think the front shocks will have to wait for me to recover. LOL PITA for what should have been a piece of cake.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Plugged it in to cool down the fridge for a trip. I'll "boot strap" the process with six frozen "blue" ice bricks.
