- HandbasketExplorerI took the Tiger all of seven miles from home to Tanbark Ridge Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway Friday night for an astronomy club stargaze. Since it was in the 30's, falling into the 20's, with a light wind blowing, it made a welcome warming room for a few of us, and I could fix hot chocolate & coffee. Had an excellent night of double stars, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and Jupiter & its moons. I've got bigger telescopes, but my beat-up little Celestron C5 SCT lives in the Tiger.
Skies permitting, tonight I'll be driving the Tiger to an educational event that the club is doing for a local elementary school. The forecast is 'iffy' at present, tho'.
Jim, "I still miss Pluto." - Go_Dawgs1ExplorerSince we just got our 2003 Chateau 26' last Wednesday we are considering where to put things (had a 33' Class A w/basement storage), what to change, and what to fix. Bought a new step, bunk ladder, some latches, stove top cover, 2 new LED TV's, and some inside storage containers. Need to wait for the rain to stop, or it might not considering we live in the PNW, to begin to load the MH.
- Aurabbit79erExplorerI finished the reassembly of the Exhaust Manifold. YIPPEE!!
Fixed a few other sundry items I discovered along the way.
Burned Wires, C clips missing, Stripped mounting bolts, all 3 fan belts replaced. It started right away and purred like a 454cc mountain lion.
It has never sounded so quiet.
I'm going to the Mojave desert this coming weekend the 12th
A 375 mile round trip. The forecast is the high 40s and lows in the low 20s dry and clear. I love it. I get to do some drywasher gold mining too. When it's still outside the silence is deafening. Once in February out there, I was panning some pay-dirt after sundown and some jelly like stuff was in my panning water. MY PAN WAS FREEZING UP!
Pics of my finished engine work.

It all fit right and tight.and I saved $1,000 doing it myself. - David_RExplorerWent and checked on it at the storage lot; sure makes me anxious for spring!
- Navy_SmokerExplorerI brought it back fom the shop and put into storage mode next to my house. It was in the shop so that my RV technician and I could fix a rear roof leak.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Went and got my passport from the RV--committing the sin of flying rather than driving. I don't think I'll like it much. - rgrcpaExplorerConnected my coach battery; started it up; ran the generator; buttoned it back up.
- Aurabbit79erExplorerThat is a very good point. I don't have a hanger but I will now. I see how that can have an effect. I bought the coach used and it had the crack then but it was smaller. If there had been a hanger it was already removed.
Thanks for that. - oldtrucker63ExplorerMost of the time this is caused from not having a hanger to hold the weight off of the cross over, Good luck sounds like you have a friend that knows how to fix it right.
- Aurabbit79erExplorerWhat did I do to my class C?
Well it's been more than just a day.
I started a week before Christmas after a trip to the East Fork San Gabriel River above the city of Azusa. Major exhaust leak started on the driver side.
Made it to the mountains and back, but damage was done.
After inspection I found a broken fan belt on the AC, a burned-out spark plug wire on the number one cylinder, and exhaust leak to the tailpipe from the manifold, and last but not least a cracked exhaust manifold between third and fifth cylinder. And that was just the inspection.
So I pulled off the exhaust manifold.
At least I have a friend with the welder and cast iron rods. Just before Christmas we welded it. And repaired it with Pyro putty.
I drilled out the broken bolt that cause the original failure.
Now I'm putting it all back together, more to come
