what oil?

While I know I lost maybe 2-3 quarts of oil during this leak, when I check the dip stick it's reading full? Am I doing something wrong or how can I get a accurate reading? Is there a difference between hot and cold?

I doubt synthetic was used unless you paid much more and specified it. Standard oil is 15 40 rotella or delo . Truth is it really doesn't matter put a good 15 40 oil in it to top it off. That was the standard when your engine was made. Brand isn't a deal breaker and synthetic and dyno can blend just fine.

Oh I'm sorry, I stated my mh info including engine. I guess I just expected more experienced people or cummings would chime in.

So maybe you shouldn't have confused the question by talking only about the compressor and instead asked the real question: What kind of oil does the engine use?

A lot of recent engines have that clearly marked on the cap that you remove to add oil. The maker of the ENGINE could also supply that information; so could the maker of the motorhome.

And I think your assumption about Cummins does them a dis-service.
In my few dealings with them they have always been friendly and helpful.

I suggest that you should try to get an owners manual for your unit. That should save you a LOT of time in the future.

Sam Spade, it gets its oil from the engine. Cummings wouldn't know, they'd tell me to bring it in so they charge $270, just to look and tell, "I don't know".

Yep, on engine air compressor so same oil as in the engine. Cummings wouldn't give me a model or part number and nothing stamped on the housing. It was just giving an oil change before I bought last year and only put maybe 3500 miles on it.
