Where can I park my coach near Asheville with electric

I'll be spending the month of April in Leicester, NC (near Asheville) and can't park my coach on or near my property because it's up twisty, small, unpaved roads.

Does anyone know of a place I could park my coach that would have an electric hookup? I wouldn't need 50 amp. 20 amp should keep the batteries charged. In the worst case scenario, I could either disconnect the battery or leave the generator on auto charge. Not sure which would be best given the time of year.

I called two campgrounds. Both were about $700 per month for full hookups. If I can't find an alternative, that's the way I'd have to go.

  • FMCA thing was GEAR 2014 at the fairgrounds in Fletcher off the I 26. Some attendees had pre rally nearby.
  • Did you try Mama Gertie's?....there was also an FMCA thing in Asheville not to long ago and I don't remember where (I know you tried Bear Creek)...there is also a Camping World about 10 miles from there with a huge lot....maybe you can work something out with them..the lot is a lot larger than other CW's...there is also Tom Johnson in Marion NC somewhat near there and maybe they can help you out.
  • Holstein13, hope that you can find a place that has electricty. I'm like you, I wouldn't want to 'turn off' the coach. That way, you can use your electric heat and set your genny to come on in case of power loss (if outside storage).

I've got ours stored currently for two weeks at a local RV park. The monthly rate is $450 which isn't too bad for 50 amp, water and sewer. We have never winterized and have no plans to ever do that. Tonight it's getting down to 22 and tomorrow down to 10 and expecting 2-4 inches of snow. I've got the electric heat on along with the Espar diesel furnace. The electric heat seems to keep the diesel from firing up (so far).

We'll probably be heading to Asheville this summer as we have for the last 4 or 5 in late August early Sept.

    Good luck,
    Mark

Yes, I am. I can think of plenty of other things I'd rather do with $700. I doubt I'll ever be rich enough to not care.

  • Unless you have something running in the coach. The house battery should not discharge in a month. Engine battery either. You would just disconnect it, and it should be fine.

In that case. Maybe you could find a storage lot, OR call one of the RV dealers in the area, and see if they would let you store it on their lot. Also "many" CG do have storage lots for a reasonable price. Much less than putting it on a campsite.

Park it anywhere. A month won't hurt the batteries. My coach has solar panels that keep the batteries charged up. The "other" stuff doesn't matter.....Dennis

Thanks, but I'm mostly concerned about two things, 1) late season freezing temperatures and 2) where to park the coach. I don't really want to winterize it for that time of year on the off chance of a deep freeze. And I don't know anywhere to leave the coach safely for one month. I noticed that my coach draws about 120 watts at any given time just from vampire loads.
