Winnebago customer notification letter

Winnebago's "Customer Service" is NOT!

We've had ours since 2007 and have had a great run with it. Outstanding dealer and communication with Winnebago has been good. Talk with your dealer about the tape and see what's up. I guess I'd rather know there might be an issue then have them ignore it and it became a real issue out of warranty.

Why is this bad? A dealer actually stepped forward about an issue. I wish the Ford would do the same.

So, what you're (or they) are saying is, COVER UP a problem, not fix it? Tape over something instead of scraping or, digging out the bad sealant and replacing it with better or, newer quality sealant? To me, something's not right here. Before I'd tape over anything, I'd like to see and or, find out what's bad under it.

My exact concern, what other sealants might be a bad batch or poor workmanship. These MH's have the roof attached with sealant also.

Yeah, so? All these RV's are put together with glue and sealants with the possible exception of the $1m+ coaches, and every one ages and fails if not maintained.

Do you have any idea what it takes to blow off a roof? Has it happened? Yes, during a west Texas windstorm.. Eternabond is not just a "fixit" tape, it's an ultra strong seam sealer WAY stronger and more flexible than Dicor unless there is a substantial pile across the length of the crack... And then it dries out...

IMO, you worry too much. There is not one manfacturer that doesn't have problems, including Fleetwood.

SCF Jeff, Maybe I do worry to much, After building 4 airplanes I cannot tolerate bad workmanship (no curbs up there). I didn't pay 100K for repairs after 2 trips. BTW my cheapy Fleetwood Terra 26Y never went in for warranty and went 10 years with no issues except oil and tires

But, roof leaks afterwards when a sealant does not work proper.

On a stick built house, what do you have afterwards should the roof get a leak & rain water enter the house.
Say the leak was in an area you wouldnt notice until it was to late. What do you have then.

There are some mighty smart people out there, to con a bunch of folks to have 15 year asphalt shingles put on their roofs, only to go bad before that 15 years is up.
Our old farm house, has tin on its roof, that has been on since back in the early 40s & still serving its duty well.
As important as a roof is on an RV, there should be NO joints in it to ever become a leak from loosing a seal.
