- KebamoExplorerI have two of them and they are all I use. Can control the temp works great as a slow cooker would highly recommend it especially when you can get 2 for 99.00 with the extra shipping
- Us_out_WestExplorerNot sure why some don't like...but whatever.
Ours is one of our favorite cooking tools, besides the crock-pot, BBQ and campfire.
Pans?? Just get the ones that will work with an induction cooker and you will be fine. - The_Dung_BeetleExplorerAuntsmurf
Oh bummer.. I had been hoping to buy one to try.. .Now.. I'm not sure I should. That's disappointing to hear!!
Thanks for the warning!
. - AuntSmurfExplorerHubby bought 2.....buy one get one free. BOTH are now in storage, and going to stay there until I can find some fool to take them off our hands. I think we used ours for about 2 weeks. Most pans I had didn't work with them. Too large and cumbersome IMHO. A simple hotplate would be better....and MUCH cheaper!
- ronfishermanModeratorWe have a Max Burton induction burner in MH for several years. That has led to purchase of induction stove in house and now a built in induction range in MH. Reviews of the Nu-Wave have been good. But if bought from their sites. Shipping will be high.
Induction burners heat the pan not the burner then the pan. If you have a IKEA close by. They carry a good selection of pot and pans that are induction compatible.
We are on the road. DW is using our new induction burner. Loves it. - Go_DogsExplorerWe got the NuWave2 from BB&B . It came with a skillet. Used the 20% coupon. That's the best deal that I saw this past year. You might find a better deal over the holiday shopping season.
- wbwoodExplorerSaw the infomercial tonight while at work. They are selling them for $99.99. You get two of them, plus some pots, pans, steamer, fondue, etc. Of course there is additional shipping on the extras. Shipping is $30. For each cooktop and for the pots and pans. So you are paying another $90 in just shipping. When you go to their website, they start trying to sell you a lot more items for it. Including "better" versions of the cooktop. You could end up spending easily $500-1000 if you got sucked in. The infomercial says not sold in stores, but as others mentioned, you can buy it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. You just can't buy the package you see on tv from the stores. But the NuWave2 is at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $99.99. You do get a 9" ceramic fry pan free with it too. If you use the 20% coupon, then you are getting for $20 less.
We bought a single hotplate to use with the RV to save on propane. I think I paid either $10 or $20 for it and can use any pot and pan with it. - denoelExplorerI have a Max Burton 6200 and love it. Only downfall was most of my cookware wasn't induction ready(magnet wouldn't stick to the bottom), soooo... do most of my cooking with my cast iron pans and dutch ovens. Takes a bit to get use to, because it heats up so fast, but once you get the hang of it, it's great. The thing I liked about the Max Burton is the high power setting is 1800 and the PIC and most others only go to 1500. One word of caution: While cooking on the induction cooktop, don't have any other appliance on the same circuit turned on. The Max will draw 15 amps on high!
- bcsdguyExplorerWe bought one a couple months ago from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We like it so much we bought another from them, both using the 20% off coupons. We also purchased a set of pots and pans from them that are steel plated bottoms and ceramic type insides, regularly $99 but we used another 20% off coupon. NOTHING sticks to those pans and the burners are absolutely great. I highly recommend them.
- paulcardozaExplorerHave one. LOVE IT!
