- 5thwheeleroldmaExplorerYeah, I fried my oysters and shrimp in a medium sized skillet with about an inch of oil and they turned out great. Guess I could even use a medium sized pot to get deeper oil with less oil.
My reason for not getting a deep fryer is safety though. My wife says she will kill me if I get one more gadget! - wbwoodExplorerWe've had a few deep fryers over the years. Honestly, they are just a pain in the butt to us. To have to deal with all the oil and cleaning of it is just not worth it. If we fry something, we will just do it with a lot less oil. We don't fry a lot of stuff. And we really don't need it anyway. If we fry something, then it's in a skillet or small duch oven. It doesn't have to drown in oil...lol
- Ron3rdExplorer IIII remember mom always had a can of grease under the sink in a coffee can, yes, she saved it. She often fried chicken, etc with it. Old Texas gal born in 1919.
- KLOExplorerI bought a "Fry Daddy" since I cook for just the two of us. Uses much less oil but I strain it thru cheese cloth to keep it for another use. Gave up turkey frying, use a Big Easy for that.

Here in the campground we are at for the winter, they use the 1X used oil to help get/keep the fire going.
Campground smells like you are driving past an In & Out Burger. LOL!
I wonder if that would attract bears?
She said, "Winter", maybe the bears are hibernating. ;)

- ChooChooMan74ExplorerI put it in containers and keep it in the big freezer. I try and fry a few turkeys a year.
