Light weight portable gas grill

Last year before a 6 week camping trip, I bought a Master Forge portable gas grill. It was used almost daily and has been used on all of our camping trips since then. Now, we are 7 weeks into a 4 month trip, again used almost daily and it is holding up great. I bought it for $45 at Lowes. I really liked the Weber Q series, but it was just too big to fit in any compartment on our MH. We do not have a pass through compartment and I wasn't going to store it in the MH when not camping.

It burns through the 1 lb portable propane tanks quickly. I use a 20lb tank for it and the camp stove. It sits outside all the time and is showing no signs of rust. I expect to get a good few years out of it. It has small legs that fold in. It is lightweight and fits into a small storage compartment on our Class C motorhome.

If you can stretch a $150 budget, the Cook-Air should fit the bill. Sure, you can get a Weber Go-Anywhere grill for $60 but the Cook-Air gets to 700F in about 5 minutes and it's just 12 inches tall! Here: Best tailgating grills in 2015
Otherwise, the Smokey Joe has a good running record and it's even cheaper than the Go-Anywhere line

I am actually currently looking at the Char Broil Grill 2 Go. I went into a store to purchase the Weber Q, but then saw the Grill 2 Go and am a bit confused. Saw far found good reviews on both. Anyone have any experience with the Grill 2 Go?

Or, you could get a Volcano grill. 5" high when stored.

Since we're only out 8 or 9 times a year, I bought a Walmart knock-off table top model for $40. Looks like it's gonna work just fine - will find out this week. I will eventually buy a higher-end model - but not right now. Thanks for all the advice - great conversation.

The Webers are good grills--I have one at the house. But when I am out in my TT I have a O'Grill. Similar to the Weber but lighter and more compact and actually puts out more BTUs than the same size weber. Camping world has them on sale from time to time.

Another vote for Weber Q series. The optional cart the have is a bit bulky, but very light weight and sets up in a minute or less. I've been using my Q for around ten years and haven't had to replace anything on it! I bought and use a 5 gallon propane tank with it.

For those of you that stay exclusively at FHU parks, check out the MECO electric grill. It comes with a stand but its removable for use on a picnic table. It never runs out of gas and plugs into a regular 20A circuit. I have one that lives on my enclosed porch at home and goes with me on the road. I grill out all year.

We used other people's Q last year in our inaugural first season of camping. We bought one over the winter with a propane tank adapter and love it.
